Town of Battle Ground issued the following announcement on Feb 25.
To receive information on Battle Ground Redevelopment 6:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2020 At the Township Fire Station on SR 225 (North Street)
The meeting is called for the convenience of the 2020 Town Council to learn the cost, responsibilities and community impact associated with the use of Tax Increment Financing to fund commercial development.
In December 2019 the BG Town Council finalized the Battle Ground Redevelopment Commission (RDC), appointed five members to the committee and established a TIF district in Battle Ground. The redevelopment commission meets independently but serves at the direction of the town council and relies on the council for funding until the TIF district creates revenue through property taxes.
The session speaker is Larry DeBoer, Professor and Extension Specialist in Agricultural Economics at Purdue University. He studies state and local government public policy, including such topics as government budget and taxing options, issues of property tax assessment, local government revenue options and the fiscal impact of economic development.
