John Kirby announces retirement after 24 years of service to the Frankfort Fire Department

During Monday evening’s Board of Public Works meeting, Chief Stidham asked the Board of Public Works to accept Firefighter John Kirby’s retirement letter effective, September 7, 2022. John Kirby served the community for 24 years as a firefighter and 10 of those years as the Frankfort Fire Chief. John started his career during Harold Woodruff’s administration and was Fire Chief from 2012 to 2022. “We are family at the Fire Department and John was an integral part of our department. John, along with his family will be missed at the station, but we wish him nothing but the best in his new chapter,” stated Chief Stidham. “Thank you John for your years of service and dedication to the residents and to the Fire Department. We (Frankfort) know you will miss the firefighter duties and serving the City of Frankfort, but we know you will enjoy spending this time with your family. I want to wish you the best in your future endeavors.” – Mayor Judy Sheets
