A major topic of interest in the media over recent weeks involves concerns about a shortage of veterinarians, especially in large animal practice. Dr. Jim Weisman, Purdue Veterinary Medicine assistant dean for clinical education and clinical associate professor, recently recorded an interview with Purdue Marketing Communications on the subject.  He explains that demand for veterinarians continues to outweigh supply and that burnout and compassion fatigue are key factors in the national shortage involving veterinarians and veterinary nurses. 

The videotaped interview was made available to media via the Associated Press this week and in just two days, the content appeared in more than 80 placements on Fox affiliates across the country. That coverage included media outlets statewide, as well as in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Louisville, Atlanta, and San Francisco.
