FOIA Request to Purdue University Global regarding Chinese National students on June 16, 2025.
The Lafayette Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Purdue University Global. The request seeks information about Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university. Specifically, the Lafayette Times is asking for documents or lists detailing the number of current Chinese National students and their respective departments. If this information is protected, they have requested that it be redacted or grouped in totals.
Additionally, the request includes details about scholarships awarded to these students. The Lafayette Times seeks records showing each scholarship's amount and source for Chinese National students. Furthermore, they are interested in identifying recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council if not already covered by previous requests.
The FOIA request also asks for any policies or procedures Purdue University Global has in place to monitor students, including Chinese Nationals, to protect intellectual property and other confidential information.
This request was made under the Indiana Access to Public Records Act and was sent on behalf of both the Lafayette Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. The coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies through transparency laws.
We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
